Many people use religion as an excuse for their lack of action. After all, won’t things be better in the next life and the one after that, and after that depending on what religion you happen to be?

While it has been proven that people with strong religious beliefs often live longer, do they live more fulfilled lives?

Very often religious-minded people have harsh views about people not in their sect. They may have strong and limiting views about sex, alcohol, gambling and other so-called moral issues, from dancing to drinking coffee.

Many religions have medieval beliefs about the role of women or the use of medicine.

The fact is 99% of the population is automatically stuck, for better or worse, with whatever religion they were born into. The number of people converted from one religion to another is minuscule.

The Dogma Trap — Losing My Religion

I went to church every Sunday until I was 22 years old, then one Sunday the church I went to decided that everyone was to boycott and picket the 7/11 store because they sold Playboy magazine.
