The Iconic Aston Martin Vanquish
I have been lucky enough to own just about every famous sports car marque, except for a Lamborghini. There is nowhere to put my golf clubs. This car was the closest I ever got to feeling like James Bond, just look at that smug grin.
The Aston Martin Vanquish is a grand tourer produced by the iconic British automaker Aston Martin from 2001 to 2007. The Vanquish was designed to replace the aging Virage and was the flagship model of the Aston Martin range during its production years.
The Vanquish was designed by Ian Callum and based on the Project Vantage concept car, first shown at the 1998 North American International Auto Show. The Vanquish featured a sleek and aerodynamic body of carbon fiber and aluminum, making it lightweight and incredibly strong. In addition, the body was designed to incorporate a number of unique styling cues, such as the distinctive Aston Martin grille, side strakes, and rounded headlights.
Under the hood, the Vanquish was powered by a naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 engine that produced 460 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The engine was mated to a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission and was capable of propelling the car from 0 to 60 mph in just over 4 seconds. The top speed of the Vanquish was approximately 186 mph, making it one of the fastest cars of its time.
