We all have dreams — things we want to accomplish, changes we want to make, lives we want to live. But between where we are and where we want to be, there’s often a wall. That wall isn’t built from real obstacles; it’s built from the lies we tell ourselves. These little deceptions are comforting. They let us off the hook. They give us permission to wait, hesitate, and avoid stepping outside our comfort zones.

But if we want real progress, we need to confront these lies head-on. Here are ten of the most common excuses that keep people from success and happiness.

1. “If I had more time, I would do the thing.”

How often have you said this? If only you had an extra hour in the day, you’d write that book, start that business, or finally get in shape. The truth is, that time is never the issue. People with far busier schedules accomplish incredible things. It’s not about time; it’s about priorities. If something truly matters, you’ll make time for it.

2. “If I could just make more money or pay off this debt, then my life would be amazing.”
