Simple Hack to Save 40%-50% When Booking Hotels Overseas

When I am in Europe, although I sound American, I make it a point to tell merchants I am British, and proudly show them my watch with a Union Jack on the face. Immediately the price of anything drops by 20/30%. As one Italian selling shoes told me, “Everyone knows the English have no Money.” Surprisingly I found the same thing works online.

Here is a little tip I learned by accident when my computer thought I was still in Spain that will help you save 40–50% when booking hotels.

Last week my friend Scott Jordan went to book a hotel in Buenos Aries, Argentina, on Hotels.com. The fee in US dollars was $150 a night, $303 for two nights, after taxes. Then I told him my little trick was to change your region from the USA to Europe in this case France, and look at the price again. (You just change the language button in the main menu at the top)

Suddenly the price for the very same room on the very same two days was 80 Euros ($84) a night or 159 Euros ($167) for two nights. A saving of $136.

Amazing but true I have also used this tactic to save big money on rental cars.

If you have looked it up in dollars first, you may need to clear your cache or use a different computer, but this works.
