Is Your Hotel A Hotspot for COVID-19 Excuses?
Having just driven around America over the last 56 days covering 10,657 miles in my Little Red Corvette. I have made plenty of observations about the state of the hotel industry both at the resort and the roadside level. Far too many hotels are using COVID-19 as an excuse for shockingly poor service.
For example, I experienced all of the following:
Rooms are not cleaned until you leave, trash piles up.
Coffee is not replaced, although apparently, it occurs to no one to leave two- or three-days’ supply of coffee instead of one when booked for more than one night! DUH…
Ditto water bottles.
Some places removed the coffee altogether.
Breakfast buffets often consisted of cereal or a cold biscuit with a greasy sausage wrapped in tinfoil under a barely working heat lamp. If indeed they made any effort at all that many didn’t while it still including breakfast when you booked, nothing was provided when you got there. (For guest safety wink, wink) Although you could walk up the street to the local dinner, who were serving more or less as normal.
At one high-end resort, the bars and restaurants worked severely limited hours, although the resort was full? Open one day closed the next. Breakfast was offered but a mile away at…
