Home Owners Revenge — The Power of the Poison Pen!
For over a decade I lived in a high-end golf community in central Florida. It was a wonderful place to live until we got a new property management company, then things went south fast. It all started with a typical form letter from the Home Owners Association that stated:
During a routine inspection of your property it was found you have constructed an illegal dog pen on your property and it should be removed at once.
I responded with my own letter asking how, if I had a dog pen which was not visible from the street, would it be possible for anyone to know I had one without trespassing?
I was told the HOA had the right to inspect my property.
After six unreturned calls to the property management company (later proved by my cell phone records) and two emails, I was served with a lawsuit from the HOA for lack of ANY response to their demands.
I then sent them this letter:
